Jean Street Shipyard

 

Welcome to Jean Street Shipyard, established in 1843, which was two years prior to Florida even becoming a state, and makes Jean Street Shipyard Florida’s oldest shipyard. Jean Street Shipyard is located on the beautiful Hillsborough River, still at its original location, and carries on a 175 year long tradition of service to boaters and sailors in the Tampa Bay Area, and all around the country.  Jean Street Shipyard is a fully functional shipyard and marina for boats in the 24’ to 80’ class, and offers a variety of services and amenities, including but not limited to: wet slips, Live-Aboard, repair, retro-fit and refit services, a self- work yard, showers and laundry facilities, and a full service boating supply store that has supplied boaters and boat builders with marine hardware, boating accessories, paints and abrasives for almost 150 years.

We have a full service wood shop, and metal fabrication shop, and offer full restoration services for antique boats and run-abouts, as well as services and supplies for classic era cars.

Although we pride ourselves in being a traditional boating facility that caters to wooden boats, we also offer a full range of products for water craft enthusiasts, ranging from personal and recreational watercraft, to skiers, yachtsman, sport and commercial fishermen, and commercial/work boats.  We carry products and support for wood, fiberglass and aluminum hull repair and restoration.
We only support and sell the products that we use, ourselves, and can endorse because those products positively have withstood the test of time.  We strive to offer the best products and services for those who build boats, those who repair them, the do-it-yourselfers, and also those who simply enjoy boats and boating.
Although the Shipyard is equipped with the tools and equipment to meet the requirements of modern boating, enough of the historic ambiance of the Shipyard has been preserved, such as the original shop building, so that driving through the gates of the Shipyard is still a remarkable journey back to old Florida.  While Jean Street Shipyard works on boats from all over Florida, and beyond, and now supplies marine hardware and supplies to customers nationwide, we still strive to be just the neighborhood boatyard, still repairing Tampa’s boats, and supplying Tampa’s boaters with marine hardware and supplies.  We are extremely proud to tout a business reputation of providing over 175 years of service to our community.
